Basic Rules for SFC Postal Match in Pistol Target Shooting
1. Overview: This Postal Match competition allows participants to shoot at their home ranges and submit official results to the Postal Match Administrator (PMA) or Championship director for record keeping. This allows shooters from various locations to compete against each other the regular ISSF match conditions. The PMA or Champion director may make changes and additions to these basic rule to encourage participation, accessibility and make the completion less administratively burdensome.
2. Eligibility:
- Competitors must be members in good standing with the Shooting Federation of Canada (SFC).
- All participants should have access to a shooting facility where they can shoot safely and follow the spirit of ISSF Rules and Regulations.
3. Equipment:
- Pistols: Only pistols that conform to ISSF rules for the specific discipline are allowed.
- Ammunition: Ammunition must meet the caliber and specifications allowed by the ISSF for that particular discipline.
- Targets: Official SFC targets must be used and can be obtained through the SFC or affiliated suppliers.
4. Targets:
- Targets must be the official SFC-approved versions for the specific pistol discipline (e.g., ISSF precision targets or Rapid Fire Pistol Targets).
- Each target should be authorized by the postal match administrator before being used. This includes:
- Competitor's name
- Match details (date, category, etc.)
- Name and signature of the scorer
5. Shooting Procedure:
- Competitors must shoot under the same conditions that would be found in a formal match, following ISSF rules.
- The shooting position, timing, distance, and other rules will depend on the specific pistol discipline (e.g., 10m air pistol, 25m pistol).
- The number of shots per target and total number of targets must align with ISSF / SFC discipline standards.
- All shots must be completed within a designated time frame provided by the postal match administrator.
6. Record-keeping and Target scoring:
- After completing the required rounds, the Match Director will organize scoring and recording the results in a manner that is fair and consistent. The MAtch Director will keep a copy of the results.
- All fired and marked targets
- A completed match form that includes shooter information, date, discipline, and any other required details.
7. Scoring and Ranking:- Targets will be scored blind, with each target being verified by another participant.
- Scores will be ranked, and results will be tabulated for individual and category standings.
- In case of tied scores, the usual tie-breaking procedures will be followed.
8. Verification and Publication of Results:
- Official results will be posted on the SFC’s website, listing competitors’ scores, rankings, and any pertinent details about the match.
9. Disqualification and Protests:
- Any form of cheating, falsifying scores, or submitting tampered targets will result in disqualification. Further penalties may apply.
- If a competitor wishes to protest a score, they must do so within 7 days of the posting of the results.
10. Categories and Awards:
- The match may include different categories such as age groups, gender, and skill levels (e.g., junior, senior, open, novice).
- Awards or certificates will be issued based on the final standings in each category, subject to SFC rules.
- At the present time there are no medals only recognition and honour of having participated in nationwide competition.
- These matches are not eligible towards classification or ranking.
